Balance app exists for all women around the world going through the perimenopause and menopause, aiming to make support inclusive and accessible to all. To work on a project with such a great cause at heart is an absolute joy. We were appointed to be the support agency for balance, continuing to build the brand, looking after performance as well as deploying new features based on user stats and feedback.

We commisioned and worked with illustrator Clarisse Hassan to design a set of characters that fit with our community. I then added backgrounds and settings to fit the characters within different sections of the balance+ app.

With balance app firmly established and a growing community, the team wanted to create an additional subscription model that would host a continuous flow of unique and powerful content. With just the idea of this being that 'extra layer' of knowledge, we got together and developed the beginnings of balance+.

Wireframes & design

It was essential that we defined all the possible journeys within the app that link out to balance+. We were essentially building an app within an app so getting the flow right for our users was crucial. Looking at all the content we had, we decided that users should always be a maximum of 3 taps away from the b+ homepage. Content was grouped into channels and we built a tagging system which meant everything was easily accessible and well linked.
